We are involved as well in European projects such as: LEARN 2 LEAD (LdV partnership)
In the project “Learn to Lead”, we bring together teachers who work with adults together, share knowledge about communication skills in general and conflict management in particular. The project enables teachers working with adults to improve their pedagogical skills by giving the chance to learn different approaches and share experiences.
MSS - ICELAND
Background and Experience
MSS is a self-owned educational institution operated in the southwest of Iceland. It is founded by local communities, the labor unions, the Sudurnes Comprehensive College, key companies and the National Workers/Educational Association in Iceland. The main objective of MSS is to promote and assist in adult education in the community, with special attention to the increase of continuing education, increased personal skills and qualifications, as well as promoting general wellbeing of the population. The institution cooperates with schools at university level, private schools, specialized schools and individual instructors. It provides hobby courses, courses for unemployed people, courses for unskilled employees and continuing education for skilled personnel. MSS targets specially those who have not completed upper secondary level of education. This target group comprises 40% of people in the labor market, although the ratio varies between years and regions. Courses are prepared in cooperation with other educational institutions, companies, individuals and organizations. The expertise of the organization in the field covered by the project is related to the techniques and pedagogical approaches and materials used towards the target group.
What are the activities and experience of the partner organization in the areas relevant for this project? What are the skills and/or expertise of key persons involved in this project?
MSS is a lifelong learning center who works with many different institutions. We have a good knowledge about possibilities in learning and how the educational system works in Iceland. In our organization are teachers, study- and carrier counselors, project managers, manager and office staff. All combined we have a great opportunity in researching with our expertise in the center. We have worked with the tourism industry in the area and provided education for employees in that field. We are a flexible center with staff that take on a different tasks depending on the work that has to be done. We have worked in European project for few years and have gotten to know how work is done at a European level.
SFI - SWEDEN
SFI (Swedish for immigrants)
Swedish tuition for immigrants forms part of the public adult education system in Sweden. It is the national Swedish language course for adult immigrants over the age of 16 years.The students must have received permanent social security number and proper identification such as passport or id-card. Teaching and course literature are free of charge.
Sfi Stockholm
The department for Sfi (Swedish for immigrants) in Stockholm is organized under Stockholms Labourmarket Administration. SFI Stockholm has a center for new coming students. The center´s main responsibilities are:

The teaching is provided by 12 schools, nine private and three municipal. Sfi Söderort, is one of the municipal schools.
SFI Söderort offer the students, besides Swedish language courses, preparatory courses for students who want to work in following fields:

Sfi-Nursing and Elderly Care, Sfi-Trade and Commerce and Sfi-Child Care.

We also provide three vocational courses –Sfi-Restaurant and Kitchen Staff – SFL- Swedish for truckdrivers and Sfi for Distrubition drivers.
Sfx - Swedish for professionals
Sfx - Swedish for professionals – consists of several different courses focusing on professional Swedish language, related to specific areas of work. The goal is to shorten the path through the educational system, and the time it takes before start working in some profession or start own businesses in Sweden. If possible we offer our students work practise and a chance to complete their education in college or high school. The Sfx courses start from different Swedish levels. Both Sfi (Swedish for immigrants) and Sva (primary and secondary Swedish) are included in the courses. Today there are nine courses for different professions, but more are underway. The courses are free for students and paid by the home municipality. The same rules apply for getting financial aid and loans from CSN as for regular courses in Sfi and Sva.

Swedish integration policy
The government goal of the integration policy is to ensure equal rights, obligations and opportunities for all, irrespective of ethnic and cultural background. Integration issues are related to many different policy areas; initiatives have been taken within labour market policy, education policy as well as in anti-discrimination policy. Swedish migration and asylum policy
The Swedish migration policy covers refugee and immigration policy, returns, support for repatriation and the connection between migration and development. It also includes cooperation at international level on these issues.

ITALIAN IN ITALY
Italian in Italy is an association of 26 language & cultural schools in Italy. The aim is to promote Italian language and culture to foreign students. Italian in Italy organizes training sessions and workshops; teachers are highly qualified in second language acquisition; study programmes focus on each student’s social integration needs. Italian in Italy has its own Quality Assurance Certification System, in accordance with Uniter, accredited Sincert Prot. N. 35 03E del 07/01/2003. Our association assures high standards of excellence in the provision and management of Italian language courses. Member schools are authorized examination centers for the ‘Certificato di Italiano’ TELC, member of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), and organize preparation courses for CILS exam (University of Siena), IT examination (III University of Rome), CELI/CIC examination (University of Perugia). Italian in Italy is listed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ database as a training board for teacher training abroad. Italian in Italy is cooperating with the ‘Italian Education Ministry’ as accredited teacher training centre. The association cooperates with several Italian Cultural Institutes including those in Frankfurt, London, Toronto, Cordoba, New York, and Caracas. The association provides Italian language courses, preparation courses for future teachers of Italian language as recognized center by the University for foreigners of Siena. Learners' accommodations: homestay, flats, agriturism. Italian in Italy is a GAELA member.
